Fairbanks – “Where the people are unusual and the beer is unusually good”

Today was a very rainy, eclectic day. We started early by going to the railroad depot where the TVMRR (Tanana Valley Model Railroad) Club has an HO scale model railroad layout that’s open to the public in the morning before the real train leaves for Denali. Then we went to The Great Alaskan Bowl Company to get some wooden bowls. Then to the Fountainhead Antique Auto Museum. They had an interesting presentation of the cars with clothing from the period displayed with the cars. One seemed especially life like!

We also visited Pioneer Park where we road on a train, the Crooked Creek & Whiskey Island Railroad in the rain. At the end of the day, we went to America’s northernmost brewery, the Silver Gulch Brewery where we had some “unusually good” beer!
