Rain and road work

Left Anchorage this morning to head north, and we were treated to 2 of Alaska’s specialities- rain and road work! What a mess! About 10 or so miles of the Parks Highway was being rebuilt just south of Talkeetna. Mud and gravel made traffic slow. It stopped at times and there were major drop offs at the shoulders. We’ve seen many motorcycles on this trip but we were glad to not see any on this stretch of road. It wouldn’t have been a pretty sight.

Found a good, free place to stop for the night at a wide pull off on a frontage road. Good sound break of trees between us and the Highway. Enjoying a dinner of Alaskan rockfish we bought in Homer with a growler of beer from Girdwood Brewing.
