We drove the Jeep on the Hatcher Pass Road to see the old Independence Mine. Very narrow road and part of it was hard packed gravel, but the views from there are spectacular and well worth the drive.

Then we packed up the RV and drove about an hour to Anchorage to stay for the night in the parking lot at the Alaska Botanical Garden. There’s a glacial erratic there but it’s much smaller than the one in Okotoks.

We were told to watch out for bears cutting across the garden to get to a near by stream.
Spectacular indeed. Incredibly beautiful country. Really enjoying your “chronicles.”
