Ghost Train

You never know what you’ll find in Alaska! Found this at a coffee shop along the road into Soldotna. We drove the Sterling Highway today to Kenai to stay in an RV Park near there. After 5 days without hook ups, we really needed a full service park. Tomorrow we’ll drive the car along the […]

Watched the boats […]

Alaska!

Started off the morning still in the Yukon Territory, Canada. Stopped in at Pine Valley Bakery and Creperie for (you guessed it) – cinnamon rolls! I think this must be an Alaska Highway tradition. We also had a yummy maple crepe. We crossed the boarder into Alaska at 12:30 with no problems. WE MADE IT! […]

Another chip in the windshield

Back on the road again but much rougher today. Beautiful, unexpected scenery and a huge crack in the windshield – oh well, it’s only crack #4! Lake Kluane is the largest lake in the Yukon, and we were surprised by the salt flats and winds off in the distance. Stopped for the night in Destruction […]

Whitehorse and vicinity

After 4 days on the road, we decided to stay put for a day and explore the area by car and bike. We drove to the small town of Carcross to see the little locomotive Duchess, which the Disneyland mine train and Thunder Mountain train used as a model. Then we drove the car to […]
