Lake Pukaki and Lake Tekapo

Arrived at Lake Pukaki Sunday night, 3/23, in time to get a spot at The Pines – the most popular free camping area in the South Island. Gorgeous views of the lake and Mt. Cook. The next day we had planned to try hiking a bit of the famous Hooker Track, but the weather did not cooperate – fog and drizzle all morning. So we continued on to our next stop – Lake Tekapo. We camped at Lake’s Edge Holiday Park – I think we have the best site! Tonight we’re going to an astronomy program offered by The Dark Sky Project in Tekapo. 🤞No clouds!

This is for fellow RV campers – New Zealand RVs have a cassette toilet instead of a black holding tank. The cassette has to be removed from the RV to dump – Randy is NOT a fan of this method, and can’t understand why this is still the standard here! 💩
